On the speed reading front, I'm an extremely fast reader - not Reid fast, but up over 1000 wpm easily, and without attempting to "speed read" per se - that's just my normal reading speed. I have a much easier time with paper books than with electronic. I'm not even aware of turning pages, it's just smooth flow. With an e-book there's a noticeable time-lag from the moment of pushing the new page button and the appearance of the new page. I suspect that with enough time put in on any given electronic medium, I would adjust (pushing the button automatically just enough before I hit the bottom to give me a smooth flow, for example) eventually, but there's definitely a go-stop-go-stop feel to reading in an electronic format right now that is not present with paper.
